Beat The Odds

The 4th Annual Beat the Odds Casino Night hosted by the Cancer Wellness Foundation Helping Cancer Patients “Beat the Odds”

The Cancer Wellness Foundation held its 4th annual fundraiser “Beat the Odds” Casino Night and Drawdown event on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at the beautiful Wynlakes Country Club. The casino night theme was seen in the creative decorations and lighting and, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a splash of pink light cascaded down the walls amid a room full of feather table arrangements and even a pink lighted bar. Natalie Pirnie coordinated all of the beautiful décor for the evening. Guests enjoyed playing all the traditional table games such as poker, blackjack and craps in a venue that included real casino tables. Slot machines and a roulette wheel rounded out the realistic feel of a Las Vegas casino. A mystery auction and stock-the-bar raffle rounded out the festivities. The highlight of the evening came with the announcement of the drawdown and five lucky winners split the pot of $10,000. Dr. Robert Avery played the trumpet along with Henry Pugh on keyboard and vocals and Ted Mann on trombone. The evening concluded with a raffle drawing with prizes including a large screen TV donated by Cohen’s Electronics, Iron Bowl tickets donated by Total Sports Travel, and a stay at a lake house on Lake Martin donated by Julian and Leslie McPhillips. The Cancer Wellness Foundation appreciates the continued support of our sponsoring companies and individuals who helped make our event so successful.
