Driving Out Crime |
NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2018 |
What better way to help fight crime than spending an afternoon on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course? On October 12, this fundraiser was in full swing with 120 golfers who helped raise money for the Central Alabama CrimeStoppers organization. Program Coordinator Officer Tony Garrett started the tournament over ten years ago, but they really drove it home this year, raising almost $100,000.
The goal of Central AlabamaCrime Stoppers is to build stronger relationships with local law enforcement agencies and businesses and empower people to make their communities safer through anonymous reporting of crimes. Since 1997, CrimeStoppers has received more than 9,000 anonymous tips from the public and has awarded more than $145,000 in cash rewards to anonymous tipsters. These tips have helped law enforcement and citizens file over 6,300 criminal charges and placed over 2,300 criminals behind bars. If you have a tip that will help stop crime, call 334.215.STOP.
