Feel the Burn

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2016

Taylor Hannah
A workout that keeps burning calories AFTER you leave the gym…it sounds too good to be true; but Orangetheory was designed to do just that, and this heart rate based interval-training studio is making a name for itself, quickly growing around the country.

At Orangetheory, science meets fitness by harnessing excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC for short…. or more fondly, the afterburn). Members wear a monitor to track the heart rate throughout the class, and each member’s heart rate is on display in real time on a big screen that can be checked throughout the class. Each class is divided into cardio and weight training and is designed to maintain a target heart rate zone that stimulates metabolism and keeps you burning calories up to 36 hours after the class. Heart rate levels are designated by color, and the more time you spend in the orange and red zones, the more afterburn you will experience. It’s the workout that keeps on working you out.
The handy Orangetheory app allows you to schedule your classes and track your statistics from each class. Each class is different so you never get bored, but you always get a total body workout with a focus on endurance, strength, power and a combination of all three.
It can be nerve-racking trying a new workout for the first time, but at Orangetheory, your fears are subsided by the friendliness of the staff, their knowledge of the techniques and their patience with you as you are learning. The four coaches and owner, Lauren Goldasich, are passionate about member’s health. Learn more about them below and check out Orangetheory Fitness Montgomery located at 1645 Perry Hill Road, 334.409.2007, orangetheoryfitness.com.

What led you to Orangetheory?
Orangetheory Fitness is the vehicle to fulfill my purpose in life. My mission statement is “To build up leaders in the fitness industry so they can empower their teams to make a positive difference in the lives of those in the surrounding communities.” Orangetheory Fitness is the “Best One Hour Workout in the Country” because it appeals to and challenges all fitness levels. By bringing the concept to Montgomery and Auburn, our team has been able to positively impact so many people.
What is your personal fitness philosophy?
“The only workout you’ll regret is the one that didn’t happen.” “Get your workout in early in the day. There are fewer excuses before the sun rises. No one can call you for happy hour at 5 a.m.”

After 11 years of working in the fitness industry, I found Orangetheory to be the one place that I knew ANYONE could feel successful and truly get the results they were looking for simply because it is a science based workout that can be tailored to any and every level of fitness.
What is your personal fitness philosophy?

What led you to Orangetheory?
OTF is a unique alternative to the everyday, blasé fitness experience. Using heart rate to determine each participants effort level regardless of their state of fitness is an excellent, safe way to maximize each clients fitness challenge which will ultimately help them achieve their goals. Helping others achieve their idea of where they should be from a health standpoint is my ultimate goal as an instructor and OTF is the best vehicle I have encountered to achieve this.
What is your personal fitness philosophy?
My personal fitness philosophy is that "excuse" is the arch enemy of "fit."  You live for one or the other as they cannot co-exist. Find out who you want to be and remove anything in your life that keeps you from becoming "you!"
What is your favorite treat meal?
My "treat meal" is Mexican food and anything with peanut butter and chocolate.
Tonya Williams
What led you to Orangetheory?
I was led to Orangetheory after searching online for new activites to do when my husband and I were planning our move from Maryland to Miami.
I was blessed to have an Orangetheory right down the street from my house and was hooked after the first workout.  I was a member for one year and loved it so much I pursued becoming a coach.
2 yrs later....
What is your personal fitness philosophy?
My personal fitness philosophy is: Strengthen the Body, Nourish the Soul, Educate the mind and you Better your Life!
I like reminding people that we only get one body here on Earth and you have to "Love Yourself to HEALTH"
What is your favorite treat meal?

My favorite treat meal is a really good fried calamari! The spicier, the better! Yum!
