LAF Game Company

MAY/JUNE 2018

Anna Shay Wasden

In need of a good LAF with friends? Look no further.

In an age where entertainment is readily available through cell phones, computers and video games, people have lost their touch with the fun of a simple game shared with others. The magic of winning a steep match of checkers or building something with colorful LEGOs has been lost.

But, Julian and Carla Petty have set out- in a big way- to amend this. LAF is a company that provides “Large Amounts of Fun” through oversized yard and board games. Their inspiration comes from their two children, Elijah Alexander and Avery Elise. “Raising young children in an age where electronic devices are practically attached to everyone’s hand, we wanted more from their normal play activities.”

When the Petty family is not coming together to hand build their game rentals, they are travelling and making memories. Along with Battle, their boxer dog, the family places an importance on the active lifestyle they lead. After moving around the United States through the military, Julian knew Montgomery needed an avenue for family-oriented activities.

A company ideal for the young and young at heart, LAF provides rentals to groups of all ages with a wide variety of options including oversized checkers, chess, LEGOs, Connect Four, Jenga, dominos, dice and Uno cards.

“It is our belief that by doing so we can help strengthen our community in the fight against bullying, discrimination, obesity, violence and suicide. These giant games are more than just entertainment, they provide a means for everyone to interact which ultimately breaks down all social barriers.” Their fight for normalcy in the digital age comes with an opportunity to have face-to-face and active interactions among all generations. Kids, adults and elders alike can all find a game to enjoy.

Gone are the days of a boring stigma placed on board games. LAF’s interactive nature provides a form of entertainment that not only challenges users mentally but also physically. They are able to have hands-on play while still enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and company of others. Booking LAF company will turn any event into an unforgettable time. Indoor or outdoor events like birthdays, graduations and wedding receptions provide an outlet for guests to let their competitive streaks fly as they challenge one another.

Julian and his family have seen an enormous amount of support for their venture in just the short time they have been operating. And as more people in Montgomery hear about their “Large Amount of Fun,” they continue to grow. The official launch and ribbon cutting is May 17th in the Hampstead Town Center. LAF plans to host a variety of events in the coming months, including children’s workshops and nursing home events. They also plan to release special edition giant games as the summer months roll around.

LAF currently offers four packages for guests which include Learn a Little for smaller fans, Actives and Adults for ages of all kinds, Fun Friday for the adults looking for a rowdier time and a Build Your Own Package for those who know exactly what they want. LAF provides delivery, setup and pickup for all packages as well as flexible rental times and dates. Customers can choose to “play all day” for a small additional fee or use the standard three-hour rental time.

The Alabama veteran-owned company encourages Montgomery to “host more events and rent some LAF.” Private consultations at the comfort of customers’ homes and offices are now available. Giant game packages start at $100 and can be rented through the website at www.lafgamco.com, emailing info@lafgamco.com, or calling 334.246.1108. Follow @lafgamco on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter and YouTube to keep up with the exciting progress they make in the Montgomery community.
